It is no surprise to hear the popular saying, “Cricket is more than a sport. It is a religion.” That is the beauty of the game. The latest cricketing extravaganza is brought to you by Sri Lanka. The country is
all set to celebrate its 70th year of independence and to commemorate the occasion, they intend to have a short tri-lateral series called the 2018 Nidahas Trophy. The match formats will be that of a T20 game. Apart from Sri Lanka, (T20 rank 8), there will be Bangladesh (T20 rank 10), and the lions of the jungle, India (rank 2). The tri-series is a part of the FTP, set up by ICC in 2010. Hero Motocorp is to be the title sponsor of the Nidahas trophy 2018.

Initially, the games were supposed to take place from 8th to 20th March but it was later shifted to be held from 6th to 18th of March this year. The standard round – robin format will be followed for the matches. For those of you who are unaware, every team will play exactly two with the other two teams. The two teams that have the maximum number of points in the points table shall then play the final on March 18th. Interestingly, Sri Lanka has setup just a single venue for all the matches- R.
